Since January 2 there hve been more changes in my messed up life. The dog I brought home from my messed up Christmas is not the only Weimaraner in my home. For a little over a week now I have a Beautiful female Weimaraner named Boomer. She didn't come from the best home so she's learning that this in a new home can be different. I'm planing on Breeding her when she comes into heat and I'll end up having puppies around. But that is the good news I haven't been having good times at work considering people have been mean and rude alot and thats just retarded. But I've been the better person considering all the problems that have been happening.
My mom's not talking to my step-father again and this time it's concerning Boomer she was offered the dog and asked her husband and he flipped out because she asked and I talked to her and she really wanted the dog and didn't want to she her destroyed. So I told her that if she really wanted the dog I would take her. Mom picked her up wednesday and by thursday night my step-father threatened to destroy her and so mom brought her to me earlier than we had planned.
So that makes two dogs I have now that have had multiple attempts on there lives. Basically it all comes down to the fact that people see am animal and think they look gorgeous so they go and get a puppy and not relize that all dogs are not like labs there not all dumbly loyal and stupid for letting you hit them and come back for more. And when people relize there way over there heads they think the best course of action is to put the animal down because they don't want it any more.
We as a society have come to the conclusion that it something doesn't work we can get rid of it and not have to worry about the repocussions of our actions.
I love my dogs and I will not get rid of them I just know that it takes loads of work to bring them into the right after all the abuse that they have had to endure.
As a breed Weimaraner's (there a German Hunting Dog BTW) are not breed to be locked in a crate kennel in the house. Hunter my male was still a pup when I got him so retraining was easy. His former owners had been tring to crate train him and he started acting out on them. They were making plans to put him down when I came in and talked to them and said I would take the dog. Having already raised Weimaraners before. So I got Hunter and sent him to my mother's until I had room for him. She became attached to him and so I went looking for another dog. Then the Christmas fiasco happened and that solved my dog problem.
Boomer went threw the same thing as Hunter except I got her when she's closer to 2 yrs old not a puppy. So she's got loads of issues to work out but I've only had her for alittle over a week and she's making loads of progress. So in a few months I'll have the right amount of weight on her and hopefully I'll have her worked threw her issues. But heres hope for the future.

January 02 New Year's BlogMy first blog of the year!
Alot has happened since my last entry. People have been taking me for granted in the fact that I don't blow up as easily as others at work. Christmas shopping was crazy this year I could shop at some place other than Wal-mart. Oh if yer wondering I no longer live by Okoboji Iowa I've moved over to the Mason City area. My horse Toast is still over by my Mum's and am looking in to breeding her mare Beauty to a stallion of my choice for a baby.
I hope that eveyone's holidays were nicer than mine. Christmas day I had to work so I didn't get to have dinner at my mums I had to leave before that but she totally sent me home with lots of food. After all that was already Mum wanted us to talk about what dog I was to bring home with me. Mum wanted to send the 12 yr old Janie back with me because she can't hunt any more and has arthritis pretty bad. But he threw this major fit and wanted to get rid of the puppy I gave Mom 6 months earlier. Mom didn't want to get rid of her puppy and well because of his acting like a baby I ended up taking Mum's wiemaraner puppy Hunter and Vick got to keep Janie. Plus I'm no longer allowed back on the property anymore. So my christmas sucked and I here's what's not so nice I gave out several gifts and only got gifts from my Mum no-one else even saw fit to even bother with a card or what not.
That was my holiday in a nut shell. My Mum is not talking to her husband I have a puppy that is having to learn that I have to leave him alone for hours a day. Which if you know Wiemaraner's they don't do well that way. Why did everyone and everything have to go all screwy that way. But the plus is that in a few short weeks I'll make a year at my new job and I get a week's payed vacation. I like not working in a factory anymore.
So now it's the New Year maybe things will straighten out or I'm gonna have to fork out money when I go home to participate in Pony Express. Hopefully the weather is better this year verses last year we nearly froze last year. |
